As a board-certified ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon, he has performed over 30,000 procedures. Soroudi Advanced LASIK & Eye Centers offers Topography Guided PRK (TG-PRK) for keratoconus treatment, considered the gold standard worldwide.

Clearing up keratoconus-related blurry vision

Keratoconus is a condition in which the cornea develops a cone-like bulge. This corneal distortion leads to blurry vision, swollen eyes, and increased light sensitivity. At Soroudi Advanced LASIK & Eye Center, we can diagnose keratoconus through an eye exam at our state-of-the-art eye centers in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles.

The gold-standard treatment for this condition is Topography Guided PRK (TG-PRK); it’s a procedure where we map out your cornea and correct its shape using an advanced laser system.

Dr. Soroudi, world-class surgeon

As an internationally-renowned practitioner, Dr. Soroudi brings a biomedical and electronic engineering background to everything he does, making him a perfectionist in every procedure. With TG-PRK, he first meets with you for a consultation to go over your unique needs. He will recommend the best treatment plan and advise you of the preparatory steps.

The treatment is not difficult to experience and will be painless and fast. Topography-Guided PRK is a therapeutic breakthrough for treating keratoconus. A specialized laser is employed, guided by a detailed topographic map of your eye structure.

Our excimer laser uses a sophisticated algorithm to interpret your custom eye map data, leading to a highly precise and personalized result.

Your treatment experience

At Soroudi Advanced LASIK & Eye Center, we ensure that your procedure is painless and comfortable. You will rest comfortably during your session in the privacy of our in-house eye surgery suite, attended by Dr. Soroudi and his medical staff. Once the procedure is completed, you can return home, driven by another adult.

After the treatment

Your vision will be blurry initially, and you will need to rest and avoid using your eyes. You will have medicated eye drops to speed healing and should not need any painkillers other than over-the-counter types.

You can shower the day after your procedure, but you must wear a plastic eye shield to protect your eyes. Dr. Soroudi will see you the day after your treatment to ensure all is progressing as it should.

Recovery time

As your cornea heals, you may notice your eyes are watery or more sensitive to light, but the after-effects fade within a few days. Avoid vigorous exercise as you do not want any sweat to enter the eye during healing. Take the time to rest and recover, and soon you will enjoy better vision, free from the blurry effect you had before the surgery. You should be able to return to work or other activities within about one week, but everyone heals at a slightly different rate. You must avoid swimming, gardening, dusting, hot tubs, or any activity that could cause debris or foreign substances to enter your eyes for two weeks. As the days and weeks pass, your eyesight will improve, with nine out of ten people achieving optimal vision within six months of the procedure.
