What Is LASIK Revision?

A LASIK revision is a specialized form of laser vision correction LASIK performed after your original surgery. While most patients enjoy excellent long-term results, some may notice changes in vision over time. Revision procedures—also known as LASIK after LASIK or LASIK eye surgery enhancement—can restore crisp vision and reduce dependence on glasses or contacts.

LASIK Surgery with Dr. Ebbie Soroudi

A verified LASIK authority

Dr. Soroudi specializes in correcting other doctors’ LASIK in Los Angeles complications. As you may know, LASIK stands for Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis. LASIK can fix refractive errors when light doesn’t bend correctly to the retina, combating poor vision. This procedure reshapes the tissue at the front of the eye structure, enabling new eyesight.

Some patients who underwent LASIK previously for astigmatism, nearsightedness, or farsightedness may need a revision due to poor outcomes. Dr. Soroudi can address less-than-perfect results, astigmatism, irregularities, and more.

What can I expect from the treatment?

Your LASIK revision is performed at our Medicare-accredited in-house eye care center We will apply anesthetic eye drops and use an eyelid holder to keep your eye open. Dr. Soroudi will use a series of lasers to lift the outer layer of cornea, make a super-thin flap, and reshape your cornea based on a detailed map of your eye created by the wavefront laser. The flap is replaced, and we’ll give you an eye covering and prescription eye drops. Although your vision may be blurry for a short while due to the anesthetic, you will soon experience a positive improvement.

After your revision LASIK session

You should plan to have someone drive you home after your LASIK revision. We also recommend resting your eyes with a nap or closing them for a period to stimulate healing. You shouldn’t feel any pain, and the eye drops treat any irritation. Additionally, our lasers help you avoid side effects such as red eyes that are common with other LASIK procedures. You can resume driving along with your regularly-scheduled activities as early as the following day. We’ll have you come back in for a follow-up, but you should see improvements almost immediately.

FAQ – Your LASIK Enhancement Questions, Answered

Enhancements are relatively uncommon. Thanks to today’s advanced screening technology and precise surgical methods, less than 5% of patients require a LASIK enhancement. Most enjoy stable, long-lasting results from their original LASIK procedure.

Yes. A LASIK enhancement is considered very safe when performed by an experienced surgeon. With advanced diagnostics, modern laser platforms, and refined surgical techniques, the risks—such as infection or flap complications—are rare and carefully managed.

In rare cases, patients with healthy corneas and stable prescriptions may qualify for a second enhancement. However, most patients achieve excellent results after just one LASIK touch up or laser eye surgery enhancement.

A LASIK enhancement may not be recommended if you have:

  • Thin or irregular corneas
  • Dry eye syndrome
  • An unstable prescription
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Active ocular surface disease

During your evaluation, Dr. Soroudi will thoroughly assess your candidacy to ensure safety and the best possible outcome.

Typically, patients wait 3–12 months after their original LASIK vision correction procedure before an enhancement is considered. This waiting period allows the eyes to fully heal and vision to stabilize.

Coverage varies. Some patients have enhancements included in their original surgery package or warranty, while others may pay a separate fee. At Soroudi Advanced LASIK & Eye Centers, we provide transparent LASIK enhancement cost information and offer flexible payment and financing options.

Most patients notice sharper vision, improved night driving, and renewed comfort within a few days. Recovery is typically fast, with many returning to normal activities within 24 hours of their LASIK eye surgery enhancement.
