Visualize your future with Malibu lasik eye surgery

Imagine the freedom of being able to wake up in the mornings with clear vision, and not having to grope around for reading glasses or stumbling to the bathroom to insert contact lenses. This is the future with Malibu lasik corrective surgery as this quick and easy treatment offers the possibility of throwing away your contact lenses and glasses. Laser eye surgery has been around for many years and a lot of people have been successfully treated. It works by correcting the shape of the cornea, and while patients over 40 may gradually find they need reading glasses due to the ageing process, it still offers the chance to experience much better sight. It is great for people who are nearsighted or myopic and can be used to treat people who have quite high prescriptions. Malibu lasik corrective surgery is also good for those suffering from long sight or hyperopia and can even treat astigmatism.

You will need to be assessed for your suitability for this treatment, and if you wear contact lenses you will almost certainly be required to stop using them a few weeks before surgery. This is because over time contact lenses can distort the natural shape of the eye which would make surgery inaccurate. The time period necessary for stopping wearing contact lenses varies according to whether you wear soft or hard lenses. Obviously hard lenses distort the eye to a much greater degree and it may be necessary to stop wearing them as much as six weeks before surgery, especially if you have been wearing lenses for a very long time. For people who wear soft lenses the time period is a lot less, and can be anything from one to three weeks. The actual treatment properly only takes about half an hour, and is done under local anesthetic by applying drops directly into the eye. Although it is best to keep your head is still as you can the laser does have a targeting system which enables it to adjust and compensate for any slight movement.

Once your Malibu lasik eye surgery is completed you may notice the difference immediately, especially if your eyesight needed to be corrected substantially. Your eyesight will continue to improve over the next few days, and it’s amazing to experience this. You’ll need to take care of your eyes following surgery, but your Malibu lasik clinic will give you clear instructions on how to do this and will supply you with any necessary eye drops. Some people’s eyes feel a little dry and sore for a few days afterwards, but this feeling should soon pass and is perfectly normal. You do need to take great care not to rub your eyes as this could damage them and cause complications. In a very short while you will find it difficult to remember what life was like when you couldn’t see properly without using glasses or contact lenses. Malibu lasik eye treatment will open up a whole new field of vision, and just imagine now having the freedom to go swimming without worrying about losing contact lenses or having to remove your classes and not being able to see others swimming nearby.
