Testimonials

Dear Dr. Soroudi, I cannot tell you how happy I am with my monovision with LASIK. Because of my farsightedness, I have had to wear glasses with bifocal segments so I can see far and near.

Accomodative lenses (Crystalens HD)

There are currently two basic types of “intra-ocular” lenses that are designed to improve vision for both near and distance: these lenses either move back and forth inside the eye and help focus (“accommodate”) light from different distances (hence the name “accomodative”), or they have multiple “built-in” magnifying circles that help focus light from multiple distances (hence the name “multifocal”).
Both of these lenses are approved by the FDA and provide outstanding near and distance vision with each eye, and both technologies can help you see for near, intermediate, and distance. Dr. Soroudi recommends either technology to almost all his cataract patients and to those who are not good candidates for laser vision correction (with LASIK), e.g., those with early cataracts, those with high hyperopia (over +4.00D). Depending on his patients occupational/visual needs however, he may recommend one lens over the other. Dr. Soroudi will help decide which would work best for your individual needs during your visit.

The Crystalens Magnified

The Crystalens uses a hinged design to allow for movement of the lens in the eye to bring intermediate and distance objects into focus.

This procedure is performed in an outpatient basis and should not take more than about 10-20 minutes. Dr. Soroudi performs this surgery without the need for ANY injections (blocks) or even sedation (no anesthesia; you’re awake the whole time), and he performs the surgery completely bloodless, without placing any sutures, or even an eye-patch after surgery. You will be able to return to most of your normal activities the same day. During your consultation, ask Dr. Soroudi if you’re a good candidate for either one of these technologies. Chances are, you’ll be able truly improve your near vision with either one of these lenses.
